Laser Procedure Home Instructions

  1. Avoid extreme temperatures (Hot/Cold), carbonated beverages, sour or spicy foods and drinks.
  2. Stay away from popcorn, chips, raw vegetables or any other types of food that could get stuck in the surgical site. All other foods can be consumed based on your comfort level.
  3. Take over the counter pain medicine as needed for discomfort. Alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 2-3 hours to help alleviate discomfort.
  4. You will notice a yellow/white layer forming on the surface of the surgical site. This is a very normal part of the healing process. Do not try to clean or remove this layer of skin.
  5. If a Tongue Frenectomy was done today, be aware that this area might be tender when speaking and functioning.
  6. Salt rinse might cause discomfort or stinging at the surgical sight for the first few days, so use only warm water during this time. After the initial healing begins rinse with luke-warm diluted salt water after food consumption to keep the area clean. You can not to this too often, but the salt can be too strong and you can rinse too vigorously, be careful.
  7. Use Sockit Wound Dressing as needed for discomfort and to promote healing. Apply this gel every 2-3 hours or as needed for the first 3 days to promote healing and your comfort during the healing process.
  8. Do not use any mouthwashes or beverages containing alcohol. This will dry out the surgical site and cause added unnecessary discomfort.
